Becca Arruda
Becca’s formal training is in biology from George Mason University. Her passion for the subject was sparked by an exceptional biology 101 professor in college, Dr. Marvin Glick, whose recommendation helped her land a position as a technician at HHMI's Janelia Research Campus. Over nine years at Janelia, Becca researched fly behavior, learning, and connectomics. Beyond the bench, she led the Janelia association of junior scientists for a couple of years, founding and running two mentorship programs. It was through this work that she discovered her deepest interest lay in supporting science rather than conducting it. After relocating to San Francisco with her partner, Becca joined Nicole King's lab at UC Berkeley as lab manager, next she finally found her next opportunity at E11 Bio, where she is now loving her role as the Scientific Operations Manager.
Outside of the lab, Becca loves exploring new restaurants, petting her border collie, Millie and traveling the world with her husband and their two-year-old daughter. A proud travel enthusiast, she counts among her greatest achievements the fact that her daughter visited five countries before her first birthday.
